Billing Course Healthcare
Does Obama’s healthcare bill lower the cost of medical treatment?

Medical costs are outrageously expensive. Especially in medical equipment.

The reason I ask is I went to the dentist. His X-ray machine is about $75,000. I said why so expensive? He said it’s economical and there is really no logical reason. Of course he has to pass the cost on to his patients like me. X-rays were $200 a piece.

I’m not pretending I know everything, but it seems this is one area that should be addressed.

Does Obama’s health care bill address anything like lowering medical costs in such sense?
Btw, I have a electrical engineering background and I understand digital circuits along with microchip programming quite well. I personally can’t see where this cost comes from?

Perhaps its cost is coming from the R&D of the technology or investors but definitely no 75k cost building that machine. X-ray technology isn’t new and using gammar rays and digital theory has been around for a while but maybe it’s something else.

The problem as I can see it with your system in the US is PROFIT. Doctors want to make money out of sick people. So they charge you not just for their time and treatment but for their other expenses – ie people who couldn’t pay their bill, all their new equipment, their own pay rises, people whose insurance company wriggled out of paying etc etc.

As a UK citizen who has grown up with the NHS (National Health Service) this seems immoral to me. OK what would I know I’m “eurotrash” and a “socialist” (lol) according to your repubs. The NHS takes the “profit” element out of medical care. Doctors still get paid well for what they do, but they are not trying to fleece extra cash out of sick people to pay for their new car or new equipment or holiday in the bahamas. We also have private medical care alongside the NHS (something which many Americans don’t bother to find out) so those who can afford it can still choose to be ripped off by their doctors if they want to. But most people, especially those for whom private medical care would be unaffordable, can rest easy in the knowledge that they can seek treatment/advice at any time – without having to wait until they get so ill they need to go to Accident and Emergency!!! And money won’t be an issue.

I can’t see why sick people should be treated as “customers” or “consumers” at all. These terms to me apply to luxury items and medical treatment when you are sick is surely not a luxury!

It is hard to conceive of a system that is harder to understand, more difficult to adhere to, more expensive to implement and operate, and less conducive to the public welfare than ours….
